Helpful Supplement Information

Many people worldwide have problems digesting and absorbing essential vitamins and nutrients from the food that they eat. This can be caused by any number of problems, including improper acid levels in the digestive juices found in the stomach, toxins in the intestine, or the body’s inability to make the necessary enzymes needed to digest and process food. There are many, many other causes, but these are by far the most prevalent.

If the problem is found to be with your digestive tract, you can fix that on your own over time, by eating healthier foods gradually. To improve digestion, you should try to eat a diet made up primarily of fiber filled organic foods. But, you should also take nutrition supplements as well, to ensure you are getting all of your essential vitamins and nutrients. You don’t have to have a prescription from your doctor to get supplements, however, you should check with your doctor to be certain it is okay for you to take them, as some supplements can’t be taken by certain people, or counteract with certain medications you may already be taking. You can do some research on supplements to choose which ones you want to try, and then make your purchase from a local retailer, such as health or vitamin store, pharmacy, grocery store, discount store, or online vendor.

You should take supplements with food, to make sure they get absorbed as they should. Your body is already busy trying to digest your food, so it is better prepared to process and absorb the nutrients and vitamins in the supplements. Even if you choose to take a supplement that is time released, you should still take it with food.

If you can find them, you should get supplements that are water soluble, meaning that they are easily absorbed by the body, and most of these have require you to take them three times a day, for best results. In the event you get a supplement that is fat soluble, you should take it while eating a fat containing food, so that it is easily absorbed by the body during the digestion process.

Some supplements can actually interfere with the absorption of each other, so you should be aware of that, and take them at different times throughout the day. Supplements containing Vitamin A, E, or D should all be taken with fatty or oily foods for best absorption. If you take a supplement that contains Vitamin B, you should take it first thing in the morning, so you can get the benefit throughout the day. Never take a supplement that contains Vitamin C unless you take it with food, as it can be extremely harsh on the stomach. To get the most of your iron containing supplements, you should always take them with food, which helps the body absorb the iron much better. When taking multi-vitamin supplements, you can take them anytime you wish, as long as you eat a little something with then, to protect the stomach and aid in absorption.

Supplements can be a great dietary aid when taken correctly, and under doctor supervision.
